Hello :)

Here's an account of my trip to Pondicherry (puducherry), One of the union territories of the Republic Of India.. and of course a damn good party spot :)

It's 4.30 pm, 23rd Jan 09, I and my rummate have just come to the room after the college and were discussing the idea of going to pondi the next day.. and suddenly outta nowhere we got this adrenaline rush and we packed the bags and ran to the bus station.. so started our journey!

Two of my juniors and me were the morons who'd packed only a change of clothes, brush and camera and gone out for the trip! well, we planned to stay in pondi that night and return the next day.. We did not want to go to 'tambaram' from where we'd get a direct bus, so we just started moving towards pondi, we reached -0.5hrs-'chengalpet'-1.5hrs-'tindivanam'-50min-'Pondi'... it was a long and tiring journey, half of our body was tired and rest were numb!

But we'd to find a hotel to stay since it was already around 11pm, we found a decent place near the bus station 'Abirami Guest House', well, here going to pondi just means getting drunk in a city whose night life is way better than that of chennai's... and so was our plans too, which of course was foiled cuz the ethanol banks closes at 11 everywhere, we planted our stuff in the room and went out to find some food, we found this good hotel, 'Mass' the dinner was nice and simple, coupla rotis, paneer butta masala and fried rice :) after dinner we roamed around the place for a while and retired to our rooms, we'd plans for the next day.

Day 2: 24th Jan 09

Here starts some real fun, we got outta our lazy beds and got ready for the day early in the morning at 10am, we had our breakfast at a small restaurent and left for Auroville... We caught a bus which took us to a place 8km away from the auroville, and since we were ignorant and also enthusiastically adventurous, we discussed for 20 mins whether to go in there or not, and finally we went in... a nice place surrounded by nature and heavy technology for self sufficiency, it's a place for everyone, be it an engineer, doctor, artist, philosopher or just you :P, kiddin'

well, it's a place worth a visit and a place worth living in. People from all over the world have made a township and stay there... not just as tenants but as volunteers who're least concerned about the stupidity of the world and want to build a society with no evil and lotta happiness.

Well, what interested me more is a Globe, a piece of brilliance, we were just awed to see the whole structure there, well, as you can see in the pictures, words can't just explain how it feels to stand infront of and think of how someone would've built it! Wonderful!
Well, later that day we came back to the place in the auroville where they had all this office and visitor center... had a wonderful lunch actually! well it costed a lot, say for a handful of raw vegetables and a cup of dal and rice we spent 80 bucks, but then it was worth it man! we then had nimbu paani without sugar and Kulfi! ahhh, that was one damn tasty kulfi, amazing!!
hmmm, we took off from there in the late afternoon and walked outta the auroville, the countryside (a pseudonym i believe) was as great as anything else there, the sun was merciful and the breeze gentle and our way green! hmmm, we reached a nearby village, something had got on us, we were doing all the things not planned and mostly only those things not planned! and i must mention, there was this lake on the roadside where i caught a site and all i could feel was, oh got why don i have an slr!!! :( anyways, went on and caught a bus back to pondi, it was a nice bumpy journey....
After reaching pondi, we equipped ourselves with some extra batteries for the camera and took off to aurobindo ashrama, quite a place, i mean literally quiet! noone speaks there and that itself mystifies it so much! on toppa that the great sage's samadhi! the ambience just makes you feel so peaceful! we took our turns to pay our respects and then we explored the sage's home which now is a library! well, we then walked to the beach! It wasn't this sandy types but it was amazing...
Just the waves patting the stones, the long breaths it took to come back all over again, the occassional outburst on the shores, the sun on its back, fading the last drop of life with him, yet it was peaceful, it all seemed like a love story to me! m not crazy yet but sure, it was wonderful! and ya i sat staring at the waves untill it got too dark to see anything at all, we then walked around the area and at around 7.30 planned to retire to our rooms!
We went to room and were chatting for a while, then it was time for the dinner! and not to mention time for some liquid diet, we went to a nearby restaurent and had a lotta stuff and came back and inevitably slept!
Day 3: 25 Jan 2009
Hmmm, well, woke up! with no positive signs of a hangover :)
well, we had planned a a trip to chidambaram! so we got ready vacated the rooms, ate our last breakfast at pondi and caught a bus and started for chidambaram!
A great place i must say, the temple itself is so damn wonderful, i'll make this part brief, gotta go for dinner and when i come back the internet wont be on :(
So we reached this place, and went straight to the temple, we somehow got into the temple but couldn't get into the main nataraja temple in time, so it was closed untill 4.45 and it was just 12.05 then! we had hell lotta time to kill so we took off and went to a nearby restaurent and waited there for no reason, we ate the best ever lunch of all the trip! and we ate enough to kill us!
We headed towards the ice cream shop :) now thats guts! anyways had a lotta ice cream and meanwhile read a lot about the chidambaram temple, a wonderful place historically, since lord Shiva performed Ananda Tandava there and The Chola dynasty's crowning ceremony used to take place there.
WE visited the temple and i don wanna bore ya guys with ma explaination about the architecture tehre, but i was just awed again!
We got back from there at around six and wouldnt get a bus back to chennai so had to make some cut journeys
Chidambaram -> cuddalore -> pondi -> tindivanam -> SRM :)
SO that's about the journey folks, and i'm terribly sorry for the late report, since i had to spend some time with the doctors in hospital cuz of viral fever! got discharged yest :P

Love.
